Hey y’all! Today we have Keri Ford visiting with us, and she’s pretty much the tiniest, most adorable thing out there. You’d hate her [from jealousy] if she weren’t just so darn nice! And she’s right. :X We scheduled this over a year ago. Time flies!

Thanks Limecello for having me here today! Can you believe it’s already been a year since we scheduled this post? LOL. That means I had a year to write it. And it’s going to be a year’s worth of awesome!

Well, maybe next time we’ll shoot for a year of awesome in one post.

I’m going to be straight. This blog has nothing to do with my latest sexy release, Rough Ride. It is a small town-contemporary romance and is the first book in a series call The Roughnecks. It’s set in the south. In the small town of Apple Trail. Three brothers. Three best friends. Lots of funtimes.

THIS blog is about vacations.

Because I haven’t been on an actual pack-my-bags for the week vacation in forever it seems. I’ve gone places. Usually writer’s conference and yadda. But a for real vacation that was motivated for no reason at all other than just vacation? Yeah. It’s been a while.

So I’ve been googling. And discovering two things.

1-I don’t remember vacations costing this much.

2-WOW, off-peak times are basically half price (seriously. Look at cruises. HALF the price of summer/Christmas times).

The off-peak thing makes me extra happy I got married at the end September. But now that the kid is starting kindergarten in the fall…yeah, harder to do off-peak times. The beach in winter….um, not so much. So I’m still googling.

Doing all this reminds me that on my bucket list is buying a cabin on a lake. Now there’s a dream vacation. A couple hours away. Close enough we can go for a week, a long weekend or heck, just a regular two day weekend.

What’s your FAVORITE vacation spot? I want ideas. Leave me a comment and you’ll be entered for a digital copy of my latest release-Rough Ride. I mentioned the sexy funtimes, the bffs, and the brothers, right? Oh wait, and did you catch the covers too?

You do for family, no matter what. Lane Iverson knows that better than anyone. Harboring a secret about his mother’s death, Lane is counting the days until he finishes helping his brothers with some work and can head back to his hiding hole hours away. As long as he doesn’t have to face his three brothers every day, the guilt is easier to carry.
There is only one thing that can risk his plan. All of five foot tall with these deep eyes and a voice that shudders through him. The completely addicting, Gretchen Jones. She’s been watching him the entire time he’s been in town. With courage from her friends behind her, she confronts what she wants. To her surprise, that’s the easy part. Keeping her heart protected when she knows he’ll be leaving? Not so easy, but her only choice.

We use to go to the lake for a week. It’s been years since we did that. I would love 24 hours in a motel room by myself w books & chocolates!!!

I would so love that too Gail. It doesn’t even have to be a great motel. give me pizza delivery and an IHOP in the parking lot and I’d be SET!

I have two favorite vacation spots. One is camping for ten days up in Mammoth Lakes. Beautiful weather, cool at night, hiking, town isn’t too far if you’ve forgotten something (or just need more wine). This is the first year since 2003 that we won’t be able to go, so I’m pouting over this.

My second favorite thing to do is rent a beach house in Cambria, California, in February or March. Yes, it’s chilly; but you get the lovely crashing waves, the fire in the fireplace, and Route 46 (gateway from Highway 101 to Paso Robles wine country) is just a mile or two down the road. But then, I’m a HUGE beach-in-winter fan!

I’ve also been to Paris, London and Rome in the Wintertime – saved a ton of money, and the best part? Almost no tourists. Sublime! (We left the kids with friends for the week!)

that sounds wonderful! I would love to do the beach area in winter. campfires in the sand, fireplaces. Yeah, that’s the stuff!

It’s not very sexy but I love going to Iowa where the majority of my family lives. Because I live in Southern California it’s like I’m on vacation year round so getting a chance to see family is always a joy for me.

That’s awesome,Michelle. the majority of my family and my husband’s family are nearby. Can’t imagine not having them close to me.

Hey, girlie! Fun post. My ab-fave vacation was one I didn’t think I’d like: An all-inclusive beach vacay near Playa del Carmen. I’m more of a busy body, so sitting on a beach in Mexico was NOT on my bucket list. I’d rather tour wine country or go somewhere to do lots of sightseeing. But the hubs insisted we needed to R-E-L-A-X. It was our 10th anniversary and our first trip longer than one night away from the kids.

It. Was. Heaven. We literally spent the entire week doing nothing except sleep, eat, drink, and read. Fancy servers brought us appetizers poolside all day long, lunch was grilled on the beach, and our drinks were constantly refreshed. As much as I hate to say it, my husband was right. We so needed that! I can’t wait to go back; I’ve been missing it ever since we got back.

Sorry, Limecello, I’d love to send you on a vacay, but if I’m not going anywhere, neither are you on my dime. ;-)

Oh, man, KindleGal, you have nailed something I want to do–an all-inclusive vacay somewhere. I see those Sandal resort ads and my whole body goes “yeahhhhh” :)

I think my favorite vacation spots are in Canada and Alaska. I love to go fishing. There’s nothing quite like beauty and fresly caught and cooked fish. Sorry, Limecello. I can’t afford to go there right now, so can’t take you with me.

    • on July 19, 2012 at 2:05 PM Keri Ford

Cathy, Alaska was at the top of our honeymoon list! We wanted to cruise and take one of the trains to just see it all. Our wedding date was at the end of Sept though and pretty much our only option was to move the date back. :(

Next year will be our 10yr, so maybe we’ll get to do it for that!

LOVE those book covers! My favorite vacay spot is a little, out of the way camp spot near Mt. Hood, Oregon. It’s in the middle of the forest with easy access to many lakes for fishing and swimming. It gives my little city kiddos a chance to get close to nature for a week and get dirty too. We go every 4th of July and love it.

    • on July 19, 2012 at 3:20 PM Keri Ford

Thanks, Sarah! I’m pretty pleased with them. :)

Mt. Hood sounds right up my son and hubby’s interesting! fishing and swimming? check!

Fun post and nice covers. I like Paris.

Paris! I could spend a few days there!

My fav vacation spot partially depends on the time of year. In general though; Whistler, Coeur d’Alene, camping and hiking anywhere in the PNW. Now in the fall, I have particularly enjoyed Seaside, Oregon… touring Tillamook, renting a house on the water with friends… If you have kids, Disneyland and etc is great in the winter. Summer is all about the PNW; the Shakespeare festival down in Oregon, camping in Washington, all the festivals here in the Puget Sound…. Plus, I love Eilat! Also, depending on what your interests are….

    • on July 22, 2012 at 11:27 AM Keri Ford

Vanessa, The PNW is an area I haven’t been to yet. would love to travel that way. My husband is not one who will sleep on the ground, but when we can get an RV, he’s ready for camping. I can’t wait until that day comes!
